One of the places we decided to explore while in Aruba were the caves in Arikok. Hubby and I rented a car, then to the caves me went. Which … by the (no fainting) way .. there are no people guiding you, you simply stroll in with flashlight and explore on your own (r your knees shaking yet?).
Ummm, WHAT … enter at my own risk?? Ok. I’m a tough new york interior decorator .. I can handle anythiiing. And look at these cute goats – not scary at all. They are known to be equivalent to our deers here. I get goo goo gaga when I see deers in ny too!
Can you spot the posse that are crossing the dirt (sandy) road? Donkeys!!!!!
Look who came up right to me. Isn’t the baby ADORABLE!!!
So, onto (into!!!) the caves we went.
There were many spots to explore, one hole leading to another. We didn’t bring popcorn to keep a trail so we didn’t go crazy deep, plus did I mention that IT WAS DARK!!!!! Look how grandious the space (cave) is …
It was a bit intimidating (even with my bodyguard = hubby) on my side … remembering all those scary movies that at that moment I wish I hadn’t watched. See the yellow gleam of light on the right side … very Indiana Jones huh?
When we got closer we noticed that the light was coming from above:
Pretty cool seeing light shining in through the top:
Did I mention that THANK GOODNESS we were advised to bring a flashlight. Look how dark it is, a bit eeirie not fully being able to see what is just a few feet away.
I enhanced the above photo in Photoshop (make it brighter) to show you what I couldn’t see even with the flashlight. See photo below …. now doesn’t that bottom middle section look like a DROP? Well, it was, a few inches …. of scaryness. Oh, did I mention the bats?
See the bats? Hmmm, is it just me or is this bat looking straight at me? as soon as I heard the bats flying around I tied up my hair … no nest for them!
What do you think of the photos? Would you go exploring in caves?
Yeeeah, the exit … time to kiss the sand! I truly did LOVE exploring the caves!!! We went to another cave that had people guiding it and it wasn’t that exciting. Still cool, but it lacked the RUSH of OMG did you hear that, something moved over there … then spotting a crab on the ground!
I looove this photo, showing the cave, the sand, the ocean and beautiful sky!
I have a few more (final) pics left from Aruba to share, which I will be posting on later this afternoon. See you then!

I would sooo love the cave experience, but never alone. Those bats are cute, but I wouldn’t want them to move around while I’m in there.
Hi Lisa, oooh the bats WERE MOVING… flyign around all nilly willy like ‘what r u people doing in my home’. And this one easily modeled for my photoshoot haha.
hi ada – you are daring! i would NOT go into those caves without a guided. even then.. no thanks. but your photos are amazing.
Hi Noreen, it was a bit scary, but hey guess that was part of the fun part
