What’s New {the unhotel beauty of Onefinestay}

When hubby and I travel we love staying in homes instead of hotels, like the ones we stayed at in Rome, Italy and in Barcelona, Spain. Why? it’s so much more intimate (home-like) than a hotel, and (even when we don’t know how to speak the language) we still feel like a local). It’s the little details in an apartment or house that make you feel so welcomed, comfortable, and at ‘home’, as if you are visiting a relative that simply left the keys for you to hang out.

Don’t believe that details make a home cozy? What do you think about this 1 bedroom home (relaxing?):

It’s a 1 bedroom apt located in the Chelsea area of London, that … ready for this? …. you can stay in if you are visiting when the owners are away. What? How? Crazy expensive? Nope, it’s reasonably priced, thanks to Onefinestay! They cater to providing homes that guests can stay at while the owners are out of town; making sure that all the homes have toiletries, luxury linens, and fluffy towels for guests to use during their stay.

The details in a home is also what makes the space so much FUN to explore. Here’s another photo of the home in London – take a closer look at the details ….

Did you see the binoculars? How about the watering canister – so you can wake up the morning, have your cup of tea/breakfast out on the porch and water the flowers. Did you see the stacks of magazine? Onefinestay screens the homes to make sure they are clean, safe, and ultra uniquely beautiful for your stay. And when you are at the apt, they are still reachable 24/7 with any questions that you may have. (psst, check out their testimonial page … it’s like reading a diary hehehe).

Ok,  maaaybe the above shabby chic home decor is not for you. Well, there are many many (did I already mention MANY) more styles for you to choose from. Their website is very easy to navigate – you can search by area, price range, quantity of bedrooms. They currently have “unhotels” (as they wittily word it) in London and NYC. Since I am a NYC gal, let’s check out some of the unique homes in New York. I love the fun/hip feeling this 1 bedroom home in East 4th Street ($269+/night) has:

Don’tcha love all the POPS of color? I do. Here’s a peek at their kitchen, (btw: I am now totally craving the back-splash below for my own kitchen).

If you are looking for a home that is a bit more exotic, check out the one in East 22nd Street ($179+/ night).

Did you notice the columns? Hey, who says they have to be functional and actually hold something? I thing they look spectacular as a decor:

Browse around some more (no binoculars needed!):

Now, let’s take a tour to East 28th St – a 2 bedroom ($470+/night). Hmmm, maybe after a long day/night in the Big Apple, perhaps you want to take a nap here ….

seeing the Manhattan skyline in the day and night …

Ready to visit some London homes (no passport needed here)?Which home do you see yourself staying at? Here’s a peek at one in the Maiden Vale area:

Again, DETAILS, make a space feel so ‘at home’:

Check out this home in Chapham area:

So many details in this room, right? A living room is not about simply having a sofa, but items that tell a story (of who lives and visits in the home).

How about taking an outdoor nap here:

I’m only showing a few photos, but when you visit the website you will see lots of photos giving you a peek into every room. In Onefinestay.com you can also choose homes that accommodate the little ones …

So, who is ready to join me for tea out here?

Hmm, are you sad that Onefinestay only has homes in NYC and London? Well, according to it’s co-founder, Greg Marsh, they have plans (BIG BIG PLANS). Greg mentions “With plans already afoot for our next international roll-outs, we are expecting 2013 to be equally exciting as we continue to deliver on our plan to build an unhotel in every major world city.” Are you giddy with excitement as I am?

hello ada, when you go somewhere and stay at one of these, post about it! i’d love to read about your experience. thanks for sharing, n

Will do Noreen, I live in New York so as temptingly as the homes are, I wouldn’t pay to stay in someone else’s home here. But I am definitely eyeing the London homes. And remember, Onefinestay is planning on servicing MANY MORE locations (yaaaaay!).

oh my word, these homes are GORGEOUS! i’ve heard of this site too, and i totally agree with you, the experience would be so much better staying at an actual home than hotel. i’d definitely feel like a local and i’d love to check out all their quirky details that make their space a home. this is such a fun concept!

Same here Marlen, the quirly/unique details of each home make then ultra special, and since they are truly ‘lived in’ you do get that welcoming(at home type of feeling) feeling!
