I have totally been obsessed with SHARK WEEK! Even the films that are graphic I still semi watch .. of coooourse while squirming in my seat and covering my eyes. Have you seen the Air Jaws one? OMG it is incredible how the white sharks JUMP (yes, JUMP) out of the water. C.R.A.Z.Y! In honor of shark week (aka: my current obsession), today’s post are some curious sharky finds plus photos of when I went swimming with sharks. Yep, this interior decorating gal swam with large sharks. But 1st let me introduce you to my finds below:
The 1st photo above is a cutie-pie sporting a sharky hooded towel (adorable huh!!!!) from Janel at Rud A Dub Buddies in Idaho. The letterpress cards (which is just up my alley of fun and sentiment haha) is from Deirdre of Sweet Dee in Virginia. Then we have the creative sharky fun pin that can chomp on notes, photos, and more (chomp chomp!). Lastly is a shark decal with chalkboard finish … this shark u can touch and write on, designed by Paul from Wilson Graphics. I am actually proposing this decal to a client this week (who loves fishing), so keep your fingers crossed that he loves the unique decal.
Now, my photos:
So my shark experience thankfully was on purpose (phew!). My hubby and I went on an excursion when we honeymooned in Bora Bora. And it was … amazing!! From the boat, we were instructed to go into the water and follow the rope which is where our 2 guides would be … ummm feeding the sharks. Within SECONDS the sharks gathered and well, check it out with the pics we took from our underwater camera (that’s me above holding the rope).
Watching them swim was very surreal, and surprisingly calming. Not sure if I can explain it…. u are underwater where all you hear is your own breathing then these majestic large fish appear so mega-close to you with ease …. I was in complete awe. See this one posing for the camera? … glad my camera didn’t look like a fish huh .. or maybe it did … does it look hungry to you? (naaaah, I hope):
Here I am with my snorkel gear and a shark to the left of the pic, well I really should say .. and here’s the only visible shark in the photo, bec there were maaaaany sharks below the water surface:
Heres’ my hubby with another shark in the photo:
Looking back, I think maybe I was scared, uneasy only when I couldn’t see them completely .. guess just scared of the unknown (not knowing where they were swimming .. how close to me they were .. did they have a fork & knive in their fins), so I spent more time under the water seeing their grandiose beauty as they peacefully swam. Then afterwards, I danced with a stingray:
Whatchathink of today’s post?

Oh my gosh Ada! You went swimming with sharks! That’s so amazing – and unbelievable! I’m afraid of fish – but always wanted to try swimming with sharks! So brave — i may have to follow in your footsteps
It was fun and sooo peaceful. I’ve been snorkeling and scuba diving, but never had swam with sharks before until this day (well none that I had seen hahaha – nervous laughter – haha). It was an AMAZING experience in Bora Bora. There is no shortage in shark food supply (lots of fishiiiesss for them), so we were not on their menu .. they probably looked at us like … groooosss.
