Wednesday’s Wink … { BYW Class – blog fun }

Hi!!! Ok, I finaaaally uploaded the BYW class pics – from the 2 day class I took taught by Holly Becker (author of one of my fave decorating books to have called Decorate) and Leslie Sherwring (from A Creative Mint) .. when I saw their announcement that they were teaching a class in NYC there was not much hesitance to attend the classes .. since I admire them both very dearly (oh, and these ladies don’t live in New York …. Holly lives in Germany, and Leslie recently moved to Canada). 1st day of class focused on blogging and the 2nd day on photography (above is a pic of Leslie next to a mood board she created in front of us – taping items to the wall). Isn’t the board sooooo pretty? Here’s a closer look at it:

Below pic was taken from my cell phone (sorry for the fuzziness), I’m sharing the pic so you can see the bins of goodies that Leslie brought with her showing us how she preps for creating her mood boards (Holly is pictures at the left):

Oh, did I tell u that they had catered food for us? Check out these yummies PLUS the table setting (isn’t it pretty?):

Oh that reminds me, I want to buy me some of these FUN straws this season (let me add it to my to-buy-list now before I forget):

These photos are practice … using our cameras:

The #1 thing I learned form the classes is ….. to have a STORY … even with food (showing different angles + close ups to better engage readers with out story):

Oh, we received a little goodie bag including a notebook .. here is a peek at my book below. Yikes, u can see all my doodling in the book (not that I was bored, but some things I kinda knew from taking BYW e-course so I needed visual entertainment …. doodle time)

I was at the 2nd row. The 1st part of the class involved getting up and telling the class who we were and why we were there as Holly/Leslie showed the class our blog (kinda therapeutic for many of us)  ….. see the pretzel cup below? … it was almost all gone (yum) by the end of class:

After the blogging seminar (which btw included a slideshow .. the beauty of technology), it was PHOTOG time. Here are some pics I took of our hellooohome pillow covers. Leslie guided and evaluated my pics (yeaaah), stressing a storyline for my pics.

Ok, so we normally don’t have pillows on radiators … but I was in a classroom people, I had limited resources …. I took the pillow near what a home would have = curtains and windows …

Adding flowers always makes a photo prettier doesn’t it?

Here I was practicing lighting (wish I had white spray paint to paint the rusty radiator hahaha), it would have had to be ‘heat-resistant’ paint of course:

Did you see the pics from my previous post mentioning BYW?  Oooh, by the way BYW stands for Blogging Your Way .. and isn’t that how it should be … when we blog, it should be OUR voice, speaking from our heart. Have a beautiful day, and let me know what you think of these pics (u know I LOVE hearing from all my readers!).

    Awesome post Ada. Thanks for sharing your experience (and some of those great tips!). I think your images came out great (and ‘rust on radiators’ just adds character to your photo story- so don’t worry about that!)
