Monday’s Make-it … { soda bottle vases for xmas?? }

Pssst, the photo above holding the marshmallows (which reminds me of snow) is a soda-bottle-vase! Say Whaaa? Here’s the dealio, I love adding decorative items to clear vases during the holidays, but some vases are too narrow or too short, then I spotted it  … soda bottles (queue in: Hallelujah!!!)

Instructions: finish drinking the soda (slurp slurp) …. then cut the top section of it …  then tackle some left over ribbons like the ones I found here …

… then add festive COLORS/ITEMS to the bottle vase, then show it off …

It’s a quick way to make a space holiday looking. Ooooh and the cost is $0.00 if you already have the materials in your home. I love decorative accents in sets of 3 then side by side for visual impact. They can be placed in a foyer’s console table, dining table, kitchen counter, or window sill). I placed these in my foyer’s console table.

The leaves where gathered from outside ($0.00 yeaaaaah!), and I had decided to spray paint them white (aiming for white Christmas look), then decided that ALL naturaaaaal was so much prettier.

I do like how the spray paint sprinkle makes it look like the leaves have snow on them. Doesn’t it? Or have I been sniffing too much spray paint?

I decided to add marshmallows from our fridge. Note: I despise the taste of marshmallows …yuuuuck!, but hubby like them (gross!) so we had some in the fridge. Too bad that IN THE NAME OF CHRISTMAS DECORATING, I simply HAD TO sacrifice the marshmallows (hehehe). I do LOVE how purely white they are = which reminds me of snow. Hmmm, marshmallow-ball fight anyone?

Do ya see the polka dots on the ‘leaves-vase’?

.. it’s courtesy of the paint sharpie that I have at my office, which I purchased for another project so for this project I can say it costed $0.00. Hmm, is ‘costed’ grammatically correct? Sounds weird!

Here’s a close up of the pretty ribbons on the top of the ‘vase’ (which you can tape or glue). I also added ribbon to the inside so when the red gumballs are gone(some likely suspect: by me!!!), you still see pretty ribbon inside.

So, are you planning on making any DIY holiday projects? I’m going to fill Monday’s Make-it column with more Christmas ideas this month, so I hope you staaaaaay tune!  How was your weekend? Mine was spent decorating our home for xmas! My hubby loooves putting up the lights outside and indoors; though I do catch him cursing once in a while and flinging things across the room! Which I find hysterical.

This video/song below had me practically in tears from laughter. Let me know what you think of it. And can you relate? I totally can with the ‘lights’, hahaha.

      Glad you do (yaaah!).I’m cutting down on my sofa (caffeine) intake, but good to know that I can utilize the bottles in another way.

    I really like the one with the layers of candy (although I would then make it my mission to eat my way through it!)

  3. I’m with Homestilo…really love these candy filled jars!

      It’s a great way to give height to a table too + yes, the yuuuuum factor (except for the leaves = not yum, but pretty).
