Monday’s Make-it . . . my Christmas tree angel

Happy Monday!!! This year for our Christmas tree top we decided to have an angel ornament grace the top of our tree … so the search started for the perfect angel tree topper to add to our decor…. we found a beautiful one with lovely white feathered wings; however it was blonde (hint hint ….. waaaas). It makes sense to ‘me” to have a brunette angel since “I” am a brunette … hahahaha … I laugh, but seriously I was on the mission to find a brunette angel and when I couldn’t find one I improvised by treating the lovely blonde angel tree topper to the ‘hair salon’, here’s her hair salon day:

It was very easy to dye her hair with a black marker, she even received brown highlights (I had a brown marker at home as well). At one point the hair dye (um, I mean the marker) slipped and marked her face, but I easily removed it with a Q-tip dipped in nail polish remover. Here’s the beauty:

So, if I was a blonde and I found a brunette angel tree topper I believe I would paint her hair white … the 1st coat of the hair dye :) … then add beautiful yellow highlights! Have a haaaaapppppy holiday! See you on my Wednesday post!

  1. She looks awesome. I always think the tree topper is one of the hardest pieces of a tree. Perhaps I’ll make my own next year. We picked up a Santa for our tree and he looks pretty good…but there’s still something missing!

Hey,I ran across this looking for a dark hair angel tree topper, and I am like you .Why no dark hair angels? seems unfair, and looks like someone would open their eyes and think not everyone like blonde angels. I see you made your work, well I am still looking and hope I don’t have to do the same as you did.Yours is beautiful I love the fluffy wings which seems hard to find too.

Hi Leona, good luck in your search. Option B – dying her hair with a brown marker didn’t take much time – which may be faster (+ economical than searching for a brunette angel :) Glad u like the fluffy beautiful wings too!

This is awesome. My sister is brunette and is looking for a brunette angel tree topper. I think I might give this a try to give to her as a Christmas gift! What a great idea! Hope mine turns out like yours – she is a beautiful angel! I’m so happy your post showed up in my online search for a tree topper for her -now I can’t wait to shop to find one for her!

Hi Cheri! She will LOVE it esp since it shows you invested time (and love) in transforming the angel topper justt fro her :)

My sister loved it! She asked where I got it and couldn’t believe I used a Sharpie on her! Thanks so much for the idea!

Thank you for this. I’ve been wanting a brown haired angel too and haven’t had much luck. I would never have thought to try this.
