Monday’s Make-it … {$0.00 branch wallart}

Happy Monday! Today’s a quick no cost DIY made my moi! … where I spotted some cool large branches outside – too large to stuff into my purse, but cool enough to add it to my office wall as wallart. My wall already has a wallpaper (which I love), but I wanted to give it a 3D look. So I spotted the fallen branches … they saw me, I saw them and now we live happily every after! Here’s how I installed it – I grabbed my drill + cup holder screws + pencil + large branch:

After I penciled in the location of the screws/hooks, I drilled 2 holes (safety glasses on of course .. no matter how dorky we may look with them on, safetly is FIRST priority).   Then inserted screw (twist twist twist) … I may go back and color the screws to camouflage it, but for now this color will do:

I love bringing nature indoors. If you do too, then perhaps this can be a DIY project for you. Here’s the after shot:

So, how was ur weekend? I had an eye doctor appt this weekend that still has me shaking my head (practicing letting gooooo). Situation: turns out that the dr’s office no longer takes my insurance (which I found out 3 bills/appts later .. if I would had known I may had found another dr to finish my exam and save myself $400). But it was what was said that irked me – when I told him that this would be the last visit .. he stated that I would be back, and I will be paying out of pocket, and that he even has customers from other countries that come to visit just to see him. Wow, ego much!He is def an expert in his field, but after that statement I can’t say he is a professional. If a potential client mentioned to me that they are still considering other designers that they have scheduled to meet, I would never turn around and say … good luck (as the dr actually did say sarcastically) I would (and have) said something like … wonderful it is important that you completely feel comfortable with who you choose and I advice them to stay authentic to what they love. When making an investment in a designer or an expensive furniture item it is very important that you are sure that you are happy with your decision. In being happy, love grows .. in ones home and surroundings. However you may serve others, I do hope you do so genuinely without ego. Maybe add a Do it Yourself happiness perspective when you find yourself in a situation that is hard to swallow. YOU can choose to be happy so DIY happiness!!!! Have a SPECTACULAR week!!!! I hope you stay tuned to tomorrow’s Tasty Tuesdays post.

    Love the 3D wallpaper.
    Your Dr sounds very unprofessional.

  2. Ada says:

    that’s a pretty interesting idea. you have a very creative look on the world. not many people would find a branch and think of it as art, but it totally works.

    The best projects are free! :) Loved this!

    I’ve had similar experiences to the one you have had with your eye doctor- not letting you know when insurance or costs change as well as those with too much ego.

    Glad there are people like you in the world who have integrity in their business and a caring heart for others. That’s exactly what I aim for myself.

    The branch idea is clever. Bringing a bit of nature indoors helps create a nicer environment. I like rocks, sea shells, pine cones, plants, and other such things as well. I have a ficus tree in the kitchen which is such a great focal point, and fun to decorate too!

      Hi Beth! Sorry to hear that u experience somethign similar too : ( I always tell my assistants, we learn from everyone … even the what not to dos :) Thank u for the lovely compliment! And so glad that u bring nature indoors as well wooohhhoooo!

  6. Another great project, Ada! I have used branches as window treatment rods but never as wall art….very clever!
    I LOVE your wallpaper…..it’s gorgeous!

    It seems “doctors” are given an extra large dose of ego!!! I have had a few as clients…and they were not fun to work with at all! How unprofessional of this one…..makes me wonder why any patient stays with a person like that!

    Blessings & Beauty to you today!
    Kathleen

      Hi Kathleen .. glad u like my wallpaper. I LOVE seeing branches used as curtain rods … so clever (and the beauty of CREATIVE designs). Yep, some dr do seem to take a double dose of ego pills, if people keep leaving (AND EXPRESSING WHY) I am sure that it will be a wake-up call for them! Thank goodness there are so many other wonderful doctors out there :) Have a BEAUTIFUL day!!!
