Attention all decorator enthusiasts and home renters! Melanie, over at Sewing for Scarlett, shares an ingenious way to make your own wall decals that won’t damage your walls! Most people have already heard of using liquid starch to adhere fabric decals to the walls, but that can get messy! Thankfully, Melanie shows us another way–by iron!
Instead of using liquid starch, Melanie uses fusible webbing. Smart!
She then cuts out the decal with the shape of her choice. The beauty of DIYs is its versatility and how you can control the end design! Here is Mr. Birdie being made…
And the best part is, this project is for all shapes and sizes … like this giraffe here:
The giraffe now has a feathered friend – the adorable bird! And all it took was some fabric, webbing and an iron! Super economical, super versatile! Check out Melanie’s blog for detailed instructions on this DIY! Thanks Melanie for showing us another way to decorate our walls economically! Hey, tomorrow I am sharing pics of my recent cooking class adventure (yep, I took a cooking class – and it was YUUUUMMY!).

This is a great idea! Who would’ve thought to iron on wall decor?! And I like that it gives you a chance to test your design skills and create whatever kind if design you want, LOVE it! I wonder what a few cream-colored tree branches would look like against my deep purple walls………
Cream color tree branch against purple wall … light color cream would stand out nicely against the dark color. Have fun creating it!!!
I think this is a great idea. You could definitely have fun making unique wall decals. I thought of putting animal decals in the hallway where kids rooms are.
Sounds like a great idea .. putting the decals in the hallway for your kids to enjoy!
