Huh, how did Monday get here so quickly??!! I hope you had a GREAT weekend. Have you ever had something in a room that bugged you/seemed out of place? I don’t mean an actual buuuzzing mosquito. Something like a leaky faucet (time for tools!), or a squeakily door (time for WD-40), or a photo frame that is crooked buuut you just keep passing by it and leaving it as is until you ‘get to it’ (get a level), or a furniture item you keep bumping into (kick it, eemm I mean relocate it), or a DIY project that you have been meaning to start/finish for the past 3 years. Well, in my case it’s a fish food container project!
When I walk into my office in the morn I head straight for the fish tank to feed our office guard-pets (they can get vicious when not fed!). I leave the uughh container out for easy access (umm, to ‘remember’ to feed the fish), but the container seemed to clash with my decor. So I kept saying ‘one day I will ‘fix it’”. Well, the day FINALLY came …. and it ONLY took 5 minutes!!!!!! <– I am still SHOCKED how quick this ‘fix’ took:
I simply took left over pretty fabric and wrapped it over the container. I used the fish food container to measure the size to cut, then snip snip snip (for a perfect fit):
See what I mean???? … look how visually distracting the container looks below (and how peacefully perfect it looks above next to my fab-tastic magazine holders):
Great designs are in the DETAILS of visual joy. And a 5 minute fix gave me the peace that I now feel when I reach over for the container. I hope you get out of this email the incentive of tackling a project knowing that the end result will bring you joy, and hey it may even take you LESS time than you expect it would.
Looks at their happy faces .. eyeballing me:
Any projects come to your mind to complete or tackle? Have a beautiful day. I’m off to the tailors … dropping off a curtain panel for a client (for a custom fit size of 95″ to fit perfectly on your window).

Way nicer and now you can leave it out whenever and wherever. Nicely done Ada.
Ah, the simple pleasures.
Isn’t it crazy how something so small can impact where your eye goes in the room.
Sweet Simple Update.

Yep, and I no longer grimace when I reach for the container … hahaha
Great idea! I love the sky blue and orange combo!
The orange does give it a nice POP of color to the serene blue. Glad to love it .. yaaaaay!
Hello! You have a lovely blog.
This idea is simply easy. The paper is beautiful.
Aww, thanks Priscilla
It’s actually fabric (not paper) .. more durable in case the fish food container falls in the water (which could happen since I am a zombie in the morn without my coffee .. haha).
What a cute idea and so simple! Love the color combination. Have a lovely week Ada!
Hi Nina, have a GREAT week as well, and glad u love the color combo .. serene yet punchy!
