Monday’s Make-it … { my master bedroom door }

Happy Monday!!!! Last week I posted how I wasn’t sure if I would paint the door blue or the lion doorknocker blue. What’s the decision? ….. drum roooooll … paint the doorknocker!

I decided that painting the door blue would make the space too dark, so instead I chose to leave the door white + paint the doorknocker … in cheapooo style! Meaning that I didn’t even use regular wall/door paint, I used canvas art acrylic paint that I had at home.

Where did my genius inspiration come from? It was freak’in COLD outside so I didn’t want to hop in the car and travel 1/2 hour to the paint store for paint, esp when I just needed a tad bit of paint!!! (geniuses work in mysterious ways, right!!!). I didn’t even mix the paint for a custom color. I chose the stocked ‘Ultramarine Blue’ canvas paint. I taped (using FROG tap) around the doorknocker to protect the door, took a deep breath, and started painting …

. . . . then I panicked a little when I saw how it looked after the first coat (eeek, what have I done? it looks a mess). But it was only the first coat, and I had to trust my professional decorating instincts, so I brushed off the few seconds of a heart attack . . .

. . . and added the second coat of paint and ….. my heart started to smile = I LOOOVE THE BLUE! I left the ring in white.

I love the POP of color it gives emphasizing Leo’s feature’s:

Here’s another view and peek into my bedroom:

As you see I love the white serene look for our bedroom (hence the white duvet, and neutral colors of our headboard + curtains, and I even have my white wedding veil on the headboard (why store it, when we can display it, right?!!!!). I even flip the stack of books on my nightstand so I see the paper not the binder side:

It’s important to add decor that has meaning to us .. like a wedding veil, or door knocker that reminds me of Europe, or a … branch! (waaaa??) I love the branch next to my side of the bed. It was picked (already fallen from the tree) by hubby on his way home from work .. hey sometimes he brings me roses, and sometimes branches .. haha.. isn’t it pretty? Decor with meaning is what transforms a room from looking good to feeling great!

      Glad u like it. I love my white duvet too, it’s very soft (cozy feel) plus it makes ‘making the bed’ easier in the morn, a simple toss.

      In time I’ll show more of my bedroom too, I even have a hanging chair in the room which I loooove (closest thing to having a hammock in the room which I find very relaxing when reading).

  4. Oh Ada! It looks fabulous! Your eye is immediately drawn to it amongst that cloud of white! And whaaaaaaaaaatt? You have a hanging chair in your bedroom? Please share!

    • Hi Meghan, I will def share pics of the hanging chair (need to get my hubby to stop mounting clothes on it, even though he has valet bars in the closet. I admit, I add clothes to it too occasionally hehehe)

    Even though I voted for painting the door blue and leave the knocker white I love it! It looks great and your bedroom does look very serene. The blue is the perfect pop of color!

    • Ada says:

      Hi Nina, glad u still love it even if it wasn’t painting the door blue ; ) The knocker still makes me SMILE when I see it!

    Love it! Great little pop of color. I really want a door knocker too! That is so clever.

      I found this one in a ebay. There are many knockers that are just toooo tiny + expensive. I wanted a wow statement, so when I spotted this one I almost fell off my chair w/excitement!
