Happy Monday!!!! Last week I posted how I wasn’t sure if I would paint the door blue or the lion doorknocker blue. What’s the decision? ….. drum roooooll … paint the doorknocker!
I decided that painting the door blue would make the space too dark, so instead I chose to leave the door white + paint the doorknocker … in cheapooo style! Meaning that I didn’t even use regular wall/door paint, I used canvas art acrylic paint that I had at home.
Where did my genius inspiration come from? It was freak’in COLD outside so I didn’t want to hop in the car and travel 1/2 hour to the paint store for paint, esp when I just needed a tad bit of paint!!! (geniuses work in mysterious ways, right!!!). I didn’t even mix the paint for a custom color. I chose the stocked ‘Ultramarine Blue’ canvas paint. I taped (using FROG tap) around the doorknocker to protect the door, took a deep breath, and started painting …
. . . . then I panicked a little when I saw how it looked after the first coat (eeek, what have I done? it looks a mess). But it was only the first coat, and I had to trust my professional decorating instincts, so I brushed off the few seconds of a heart attack . . .
. . . and added the second coat of paint and ….. my heart started to smile = I LOOOVE THE BLUE! I left the ring in white.
I love the POP of color it gives emphasizing Leo’s feature’s:
Here’s another view and peek into my bedroom:
As you see I love the white serene look for our bedroom (hence the white duvet, and neutral colors of our headboard + curtains, and I even have my white wedding veil on the headboard (why store it, when we can display it, right?!!!!). I even flip the stack of books on my nightstand so I see the paper not the binder side:
It’s important to add decor that has meaning to us .. like a wedding veil, or door knocker that reminds me of Europe, or a … branch! (waaaa??) I love the branch next to my side of the bed. It was picked (already fallen from the tree) by hubby on his way home from work .. hey sometimes he brings me roses, and sometimes branches .. haha.. isn’t it pretty? Decor with meaning is what transforms a room from looking good to feeling great!
